With hunger and poverty killing so many people, Action Against Hunger is ready to make a change throughout the world. In 2005, 10.1 million children died before they were five. More recently, in 2007, it is said that 853 million people do not have enough to eat everyday. Action Against Hunger works to fight and improve this shocking statistics. The team's goal is to save the life of malnourished children or help people who are not able to eat everyday.

For 25 years, Action Against Hunger, based in the UK, has been helping to fight worldwide malnutrition and hunger. Even in the poorest and most affected countries, Action Against Hunger does their best to give people one of the most basic rights as a human, and that is the right to food. Through their development programs, Action Against Hunger brings assistance before, during, and after crisis strikes. The team works as emergency intervention and then works as a place for rehabilitation to help get people back to a healthy stage of life.

When the Action Against Hunger team enters a country that is affected by hunger and malnutrition, the team first brings them to their centres for treatment and help. The first stage of their treatment is Intensive Care. During this stage the team works to stabilise metabolism and any infections that the person may have. Sadly, many of the victims are near death and cannot eat solid food. The team then focuses on Recuperation and Weight Gain. Action Against Hunger feeds the victims richer food and more meals a day so that they gain weight. Lastly, the team prepares the victim to return to their homes. Even when they leave the centre, the team still keeps contact with the people they help. Action Against Hunger usually cures 85% of hunger victims.
