Sat Nav Systems Not Intended to Replace Brain

Posted in Fun on Friday, July 31st, 2009 at 10:38 by Sarah Evans.

Although by some of the news stories, I’ve been reading, there are drivers worldwide that seem to think they can turn on their sat nav systems and turn their brains off.

Here are two of my favourites:

A 20 year old student was driving to her boyfriend’s parents’ home for the first time. Okay, it was dark. However, the girl was so dependent on her nav system that she failed to notice that she had stopped on a railroad track. Apparently, the system told her where to go and upon encountering a gate, the girl got out to open it. She was out of the car when she heard the sound of a horn. Fortunately, she ignored her impulse to jump back into the car to move it (still not knowing it was a train). The train hit the car and sent it into a 360. The girl was not hurt. Humiliated, surely, but not hurt.

I think there are some grave misconceptions about energy prices. Rather, on how to save on monthly energy bills. We all know that energy costs have risen and will continue to rise. I won’t go off on a rant about the falsehoods regarding supply and demand; rather, I would like to point out how you can save money. Unless you’re in the political arena or energy related industries in some way then you most likely aren’t aware of the day to day prices of energy related products. I know I’m not. Regardless, what you can do is to learn how the system works and find the best way for you to run an efficient household and/or business.

What is it about socks? No matter how hard I try, one always gets lost. I always make sure they are paired up and double check – even triple check – the washing machine and the dryer to make sure one isn’t stuck or lurking in a crevice waiting for the opportunity to escape. Still, they go missing, one by one.
