Champneys Collection as a Great Getaway

Posted in Shopping on Friday, May 28th, 2010 at 11:49 by Sarah Evans.

I have a confession to make. I have never been to a spa. Hard to believe, I know, but it is true. I always thought they were too expensive or exclusive for an average working person. As with many things, I was wrong. I typically don’t like to admit when I am wrong but sometimes the truth is just too good to keep to oneself.

Wickes Takes the Grief Out of Delivery

Finally! There is a company that understands that sometimes one needs to have something delivered right away that may be oversized. I cannot tell you how many household projects I have put off or cancelled because I could not get the materials I needed delivered to my house. Even if the products I needed were at a local store, I did not have a way to transport them home. And even if I did have a way to get them home, it would be somewhat difficult to transport the items on my own. And, of course, when you need such things done everyone seems to be busy anyway.

People Prefer Purple Parking

Posted in Shopping on Wednesday, May 26th, 2010 at 10:25 by Sarah Evans.

I love to travel. In fact, I was away on holiday this past week end. The hotel we chose was lovely. The only problem was the parking situation. The hotel did not have its own garage so we were left to fend for ourselves in one of the nearby public lots or garages. The cost of parking for one night was half as much as the room cost! We had no choice but after learning about Purple Parking, I don’t even think I will go anywhere it doesn’t exist!

Bathroom Heaven

Posted in Shopping on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 at 11:12 by Sarah Evans.

I hate my bathroom. It is not so incredibly horrible, it is just ugly. The building I live in was last remodeled about 30 years ago and the fixtures in the bathroom certainly reflect it. Not too long ago, I had an incident during which my bathroom wall was badly damaged. There had been a leak in the water pipe and so the wall had to be replaced. As a result, I received a new surround on the shower. Unfortunately, that was all that was in need of replacement. As far as the damage goes, I mean. The bad part is that because I rent, I cannot go to a store and buy the things I like in the way of bathroom cabinets and bathroom sinks. Who knows, maybe “ugly” will come back into style again in another 10 or 20 years.

La Redoute is the Answer

One of the most hated seasons for women the world over is swimsuit season. Nearly every woman hates to go through the process of trying on swimsuits and looking into mirrors that inflate certain parts of the body in a most unflattering way. The last suit I bought was purchased in a new way than ever before. I found it on sale at an online store. The suit was perfectly functional, pretty, and one I could afford. People do not realize how expensive swimsuits can be! The purchase turned out to be a smart one as the suit fit perfectly and there were no dressing rooms to deal with, no mirrors to make me want to cry.

Kiddicare

I have mentioned recently that I have to buy a gift for a good friend that is having a baby. I usually refer to my mum’s expertise in this area since she knows quite a lot about children. The answer to the problem is most usually a combination of items that the baby will certainly need such as shampoo, blankets, bottles, nappies, and the like. That answer typically works but I think that this time I may want to go in another direction.

Hotter Shoes

Many men don’t seem to grasp the concept that there are shoes to walk in and shoes to wear simply because they are pretty. I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense since many of those “pretty” shoes are not only extremely expensive but walking in them is more painful than stepping on broken shards of glass. I know because I have worn those shoes simply because they looked good. Men don’t do that. When is the last time you knew a man that was willing to put aside all comfort and reason just because a pair of shoes looked nice? My point precisely.

Oak Furniture Land is the Place to Be!

Posted in Shopping on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 at 10:34 by Sarah Evans.

Furniture is one of those things that I like to look at even if I am not in the market to buy. While there are some things I am not terribly choosy about, furniture is one thing that I will not skimp on if I can help it. When I moved to my new flat, I gave away all of my furniture except for one piece. That piece is a deacon’s bench handmade by my parents. The wood is solid oak and it is beautiful. Ever since I lived in my last place where everything was oak, I have fallen in love with the look and texture of the wood. It ranks right up there with mahogany and cherry in my book.

Finding Your Scent at Fragrance Direct

I think one of the things that would make me feel most luxurious would be my own personal fragrance. Recently, I stopped thinking that one needed to be rich or a celeb to have her own scent, one that is different. If that goal is a bit too lofty, then perhaps it would be nice to find great scents at discount prices. The savings on fragrances are astounding, particularly when you use special offers like the ones we have such as the Fragance Direct voucher code or Fragance Direct promotional code. Aside from the great savings, there are other benefits to ordering online.

Fly Thomas Cook

Yesterday I looked online to find a cheap flight to the US to visit a friend. The friend wants to meet in Baltimore, just outside Washington, D.C. I have been to Washington, D.C. many times and like the city. Unfortunately, this will be a relatively short trip since my friend does not have as much holiday time as I do. Rather, his schedule is less flexible.
