I just finished reading “Travels” by the late great Michael Crichton. The book has me aching to go some type of sports adventure. Crichton travelled all over the world, experiencing many different cultures and having the most interesting things happen to him and his travelling companions whilst climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, diving in Tahiti and Jamaica, and also while doing less dangerous things such as watching a nearly extinct turtle lay eggs in Malaysia. Sounds a lot better than visiting relatives that you don’t even like, eh? I thought so too.
I think one of the most interesting adventures to me was the trip to Pahang where Crichton and his guide stalked tigers. Unfortunately, their best chance at seeing one was ruined by a chatty couple that could not keep quiet long enough for any animals to come round.
Then again, the visit to the Pyramid of the Magician in Uxmal sounded pretty interesting.
If you are looking for some kind of sporting adventure, you should really check out the various sites we have on equipment as well as the adventures themselves. Companies such as Gap Adventures and Venture Sport offer many brilliant choices for the outdoor adventurer. For example, Venture Sport has nearly every kind of outdoor adventure gear you could ever need, from climbing equipment to waterproofs clothing to first aid kits. Always take a first aid kit no matter where you go. It’s always good to be prepared. Now get out there and have some fun!
