Finding the Best Travel Insurance

travelEveryone will take out travel insurance when they are planning an overseas trip, right? Wrong! And when a major survey was carried out last year, it revealed just how many people are prepared to go away without being covered…

Do you realise that -

- 15% of people will have to make a claim on their travel insurance whilst they are abroad?

And yet -

- around 25% of travellers will not even bother to organise any cover in the first place????

Obviously, we should all take out some form of travel insurance when we are planning on going away; after all, it’s simple common sense, isn’t it? All manner of things can go wrong whilst we are in another country, so it is always advisable to be properly prepared.

However, when it comes to finding cheap travel insurance, there are few things to be aware of…

Finding Cheap Cover For the Over 65s…

The Association of British Insurers estimates that policyholders over 65 years of age are 3 times more likely to make a claim on their cover… and that most of these claims will be larger than those made by younger travellers. So, insurance companies will obviously need to bear these figures in mind when they are calculating their prices…

However, the cost of travel insurance will still vary quite considerably from one insurer to another, so it is always worth getting several different quotes. Just because someone is over 65 years of age, it doesn’t mean they cannot find cheap travel insurance!!!

It’s Worth Shopping Around…

A lot of people will automatically purchase their insurance from their travel agent when they are booking their actual trip, but this is not a good idea…

Getting your travel insurance like this will often mean paying far more than you need to… In fact, it will frequently cost you around 90% more!

And don’t be under the illusion that purchasing your cover from a travel agent will be more convenient either! Finding cheap travel insurance on a price comparison website will only take up a few minutes of your time!!!

The Multiple Costs of Multiple Excess…

Beware; some insurers are in the habit of turning one claim into two by charging twice the amount of excess!

So make sure you check the finer details of any travel insurance policy before making a final decision…

If you were knocked unconscious by a mugger and you had your wallet stolen, then would your insurer see this as being two individual claims??? As unfair as it may be, this can often be the case…
