Saving Electricity

2LightbulbsEvery day on the news we hear about how important it is to save electricity, regardless of its source. Unlike water conservation, many sources are unclear as to why we should conserve electricity; just that it is good for the planet. Conserving electricity seems to be synonymous with conserving energy although they are not entirely the same thing. In a nutshell, conserving energy refers to more than electricity. Conserving electricity is important because the less electricity we use, the less fossil fuels we use. In other words, using too much electricity means the depletion of pollution causing fossil fuels which means no electricity – unless alternate sources are found and utilised.

That being said, conserving energy is also a good way to save money. It is easy to conserve by turning off lights and unplugging unnecessary appliances. It is also a good excuse to buy brilliant solar powered stuff like solar powered lighting and heating systems, etc.

I searched around today to find some new solar powered items and came up with some fun things. Companies like Gizoo have a wide array of items that can help you save energy. I think my favourite might be the solar iPhone charger. A solar charger is fantastic! No longer will you have to search for power sources or tap the power in your car to make sure the battery in your mobile won’t die.
