Supermarkets Change Policies

internet-supermarket-shoppingWith the ever tightening economy throughout the UK, it is no real surprise that some stores are changing their policies regarding savings and coupons. The most notable store to make a change this week is Tesco, which has announced that it will no longer accept coupons for items not specifically noted on the coupon itself. In the past, Tesco would honour a coupon even if it was not printed for the product(s) being purchased. They would accept practically anything. Now, the coupon being used must match the item being purchased or it will not be honoured. Note that the new coupon policy is very specific and will only honour the brand, size, etc. of the item.

A corporate spokesperson for Tesco said that the store has been pondering this policy for a long time.

Frankly, I am not surprised. In fact, I am surprised that it has taken so long to enforce this new policy. Many stores worldwide – online or otherwise – will not honour coupons for items that are not specifically listed. Some will honour coupons from other stores, some will not. As always, it is best to read the fine print on the coupons or in the printed adverts. Also be sure to check the expiration date!

We have several supermarkets in our retailer directory, including Tesco. They include My Supermarket UK, the Co-op, and lest we forget the family pets, we also have Pet Supermarket.

As always, shop around, compare prices and be prepared to save big!
