At Greenpeace, they endeavor to identify possible problems and provide solutions for positive change by promoting peace and defending our natural world.
Internationally acclaimed, Greenpeace is the champion behind solutions that are environmentally responsible because it is the Greenpeace goal to ensure that the ability of the earth to nurture life will always be there. In addition, Greenpeace exert coordinated efforts in investigating, exposing and confronting abuses to the environment committed by both government and corporations all over the world.
Also, Greenpeace funds its campaigns against environmental degradation projects and programs through the generous and voluntary donations from individual supporters and grant supports from foundations. Greenpeace do not solicit or receive allocations from the government or other institutions that could put their principles or independence at stake. Because of the dedication of Greenpeace, they have been instrumental in implementing important projects all over the world with the common goal of protecting our earth.
A potted history of Greenpeace commences with an action to protect the earth in 1971 coming up with the Phyllis Cormack which was the first of its ships. This fishing vessel soon sailed into prohibited zones and became witness to US nuclear weapons testing on Amchitka Island, Alaska. This kicked off the series of ships that followed in the next few years. The activities eventually led to the birth of Greenpeace UK in 1977, initiated by four members who only had £800 and risked it in a borrowed office in Whitehall.
In addition to its ships, Greenpeace conducted scientific researches, got engaged in political work, kept an open communication between the environmentalists, and opened the Greenpeace Environmental Trust, a registered charity which aims to educate people on how human activity creates an impact on the natural world.
You will find that Greenpeace have succeeded in educating and influencing decision makers with regards to the environmental footprints mankind is creating and setting a trend to reduce environmental impact by encouraging the use of recycled paper to lower carbon emissions. If you want peace prepare for war and Greenpeace is not that peaceful when they discover an abuse of the environment they have repeatedly demonstrated with high profile demonstrations and interference in activities such as nuclear testing and whaling.
