Nestled on the edge of the beautiful New Forest National Park in Hampshire, The Onion Store is a unique getaway from the business of life. Open from May to October, the mid-range accommodation comprises of three small, intensely private, incredibly serene 'stores' called the Onion Store, the Grain Store and the Apple Store, all sleeping two people on a bed and breakfast basis. The romantic setting in the eight-acre estate of a seventeenth century thatched house incorporates a luxurious candle-lit pool, guest fridge and tea and coffee facilities.

The morning meal consists of a full English breakfast, vegetarian or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, as well as a tropical fruit platter served beside the swimming pool in the conservatory. There are no facilities for self-catering.

Each detached store is an old wood and brick building, decorated in simple luxury and rustic charm. Cast-iron baths, muslin canopies and candle chandeliers are the norm, and each store has hand-picked furniture creating a distinct feel in each building. The private feel of the three stores continues outside, as each has its own uniquely designed private garden and outside door.

The small complex is located in the village of Romsey, and is only a few miles away from the attractions of Salisbury, Winchester and the New Forest. The village has a number of pubs and restaurants for the meals which are not provided for, and local taxis are available. The area also offers horse riding, golf, fishing and flying.

Although the website is simple and slightly amateur, it has all the information any visitor will need including contact details. There is no facility to book or pay online, but all the appropriate phone numbers and contact addresses are given. The site is full of good quality photos showing off the various buildings, the pool and the inside of the accommodation.
