About TIC

The TIC (Technology Innovation Centre) at Birmingham City University supports individuals, organisations and communities in developing their understanding and capabilities within a rapidly developing technology-based society, providing cutting-edge resources and specialised knowledge to meet the demands of the 21st Century.

The TIC is founded on the knowledge, expertise and market relationships established by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology of Birmingham City University. These relationships have been built over many years meeting the needs of a wide range of clients. The TIC draws upon strong partnerships with national and international industry, small and medium sized enterprises, commerce, universities, schools and research institutes.

The TIC also works with a wide range of organisations including national and local government, the West Midlands regional development agency, the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), the Accelerate initiative in the automotive industry, further education colleges in the West Midlands, and universities in the region and across the UK. The centre has strong business relationships with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), multinational organisations, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). They also work with trade associations to extend the performance improvements the TIC has made in some of their members across their industry.

We work collaboratively with our partners to educate the skilled individuals needed to power the regional economy, and to transfer to our clients in UK industry the technology that will give them a competitive advantage.

TIC aims to help students in a number of different ways including making the right course choices, and answering questions on finance, accommodation and study support. The centre also works to give information regarding the student social scene and student union facilities.
